Sunderland drew 1-1 with Leeds United in the 18th round of the 2025/26 Premier League season thanks to a goal from Ardinga. Ardinga stated that he hopes to continue this scoring streak.

In the 28th minute, Xhaka made a through pass into the penalty area, where Ardinga received the pass and fired a shot into the net, giving Sunderland a 1-0 lead.

Shortly after the start of the second half, Brendon Allensen broke into the penalty area and passed the ball diagonally, which Calvert-Lewin converted to level the score at 1-1 for Leeds United.

Sunderland ultimately drew 1-1 with Leeds United at home. After a run of 1 win, 3 draws, and 1 loss in their last 5 matches, Sunderland currently sits in 7th place in the league table with 28 points.

It's worth mentioning that this was Ardinga's first goal for Sunderland. Speaking about the goal, Ardinga shared, "When Xhaka had the ball, I knew he was very good; he could see those passing lanes. I reacted quickly, and he saw my run. After controlling the ball, I shot without hesitation."

On the other hand, Sunderland will host Manchester City in the next round of the Premier League, while Guardiola's team is currently second in the standings with 40 points.

Adinger also said, "I think we just need to focus on ourselves, do the basics well, and we'll be fine."
