Girona announced on its official website Thursday that the club has signed France international attacking midfielder Thomas Lemar and young Spanish right-back Hugo Rincón on-loan from Atlético Madrid and Athletic Bilbao, respectively.

According to Girona's official statement, both players will play for the club on-loan until the end of the new season, with no buyout clause.

About Thomas Lemar

Thomas Lemar, 29, was born on November 12, 1995, in Baie-Mahault, Guadeloupe. Standing 1.70 meters tall, he primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a left winger or right winger. He holds dual Guadeloupean and French citizenship.

Lemar played for the youth academy of a club in the Guadeloupe First Division as a child. He joined Caen's youth academy in 2010 and completed his Caen first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in August 2013 at the age of 17.

In July 2015, Lemar joined Monaco for €3 million.

During his three-year spell with Les Monegasque, Lemar won the Ligue 1 title once with the club and was the subject of fierce transfer battle from Arsenal and Liverpool.

In June 2018, Lemar joined Atlético Madrid for €70 million, becoming the 10th most expensive French player in football history.

Since joining Atlético Madrid, Lemar has made 186 appearances for Los Colchoneros in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 19 assists. During which he has also won the La Liga and the Supercopa de España once with the club.

About Hugo Rincón

Born on January 27, 2003, in Valtierra, Navarra, Spain, Hugo Rincón, 22, stands 1.83 meters tall and plays right back. He is of Basque descent. His cousin, Pablo Ibáñez, is also a professional footballer, having recently joined Alaves from Osasuna, where he plays as a defensive midfielder.

Rincón joined Osasuna's youth academy at a young age and joined Athletic Bilbao's youth academy at the age of 15. He began playing for their B team as well as their non-league satellite team, Basconia, in the summer of 2021 and was promoted to the Athletic Bilbao first team in the summer of 2023.

In August 2024, Rincón was loaned-out to Mirandés.

Last season, Rincón made 44 appearances for Mirandés in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists, helping the club reach the Spanish Segunda División promotion play-offs final.
