Ben Jacobs refute rumour which resurfaced again from two years ago which falsely claimed that Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur are determined to battle for the signing of Peterborough United's young forward Bradley Ihionvien..

American media outlet CBS Sports' resident renowned transfer journalist Ben Jacobs, has refuted on the recent instances of netizens maliciously bringing up and hyping up the fake news from two years ago which claimed that Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur are determined to battle for the signing of Peterborough United's young English forward Bradley Ihionvien which had resurfaced again on X (Twitter) through his personal official paid column on Saturday.

Jacobs refuted in his column, that whether it was Crystal Palace or Tottenham Hotspur, or Burnley, another club which was rumoured two years ago, in fact, no Premier League or EFL Championship club had ever noticed Ihionvien, and most of the scouts in the two leagues did not even know who the player was.

He added that he had reason to suspect that there were only three reasons why netizens deliberately brought up this old news again. Firstly, these Tottenham Hotspur fans wishfully believed that Ihionvien "should" be regarded as the successor to captain Son Heung-min to solve the team's poor performances this season.

Secondly, Crystal Palace has not yet filled the vacancy left by Michael Olise after his transfer to Bayern Munich, and Eberechi Eze is often rumoured to be pursued by Manchester United, so Ihionvien naturally became one of the candidates for the two's replacements again.

Thirdly, in order to clickbait and seek attention, this fake news was deliberately brought up again and hyped up again with various Premier League clubs based in London.

Upon verification, this rumour was first mentioned in September 2023, and the culprit who fabricated of this fake news about Ihionvien was the UK's infamously notorious low-quality media outlet, our "Daily Slap in the Face Party" regular representative, The Sun!

At that time, The Sun published an article falsely claiming that Ihionvien, who was still playing for Colchester United at the time, was pursued by Burnley and Crystal Palace.

This rumour was also reposte to our website at one time, but it did not attract much attention later.

Until a few days ago, a British netizen who often loves to make up fake transfer rumours, brought up this rumour again for no reason on X, and the Nigerian teenager who was still playing for Colchester United at the time was suddenly discussed by many people inexplicably.

About Bradley Ihionvien

Bradley Ihionvien, 21, was born on December 23, 2003 in Greenwich, London, England. He is 1.91 meters tall and primarily plays as a center forward. He can also play as a left winger and a right winger. He has dual citizenship of England and Nigeria.

Ihionwien played for the youth academy of the non-league club Maidstone United when he was a child. He joined the Colchester United youth academy in 2021 and completed his Colchester United first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in May of the following year.

In August of the same year, Ihionvien was loaned-out to non-league club Maldon & Tiptree to gain match experiences.

After returning to the club following his loan spell in the summer of 2023, Ihionvien officially became a key member of Colchester United's first-team. During this spell, he helped the club successfully avoid relegation with his outstanding performances. It was for this reason that the young player was exaggeratedly described by The Sun as the next "wonderkid" like Olise.

On 2024 summer transfer window deadline day, Ihionvien transferred to Peterborough United for £100,000.

So far this season, Ihionvien has played 19 times for the EFL League One club in all competitions and scored 2 goals.
