Bournemouth confirmed on Thursday that the buyout clause for Spanish right-back Alex Jimenez has officially taken effect. The two sides signed a five-and-a-half-year contract, valid until June 30, 2031.
The official announcement also stated that Jimenez will continue to wear the number 20 jersey for Bournemouth.
Jimenez joined Bournemouth on loan from AC Milan in September 2025 and has since quickly become an indispensable pillar of their defense. At just 20 years old, he has made 23 appearances for the Cherries, scoring one goal and providing one assist.
According to Fabrizio Romano, the deal includes a fixed fee of €19.5 million and performance-related bonuses of €5.3 million. AC Milan will receive €5 million upfront, with the remainder to be split equally between Milan and Real Madrid, Jimenez's former club.
Jiménez trained at Real Madrid for a long time before joining AC Milan's U19 team on a loan-to-buy deal in 2023. He made his first-team debut for Milan on January 2, 2024, in the Coppa Italia Round of 16.
During his time at AC Milan, Jimenez made a total of 34 appearances and provided 2 assists.
Bournemouth's Chief Operating Officer, Thiago Pinto, is very pleased with the signing. He stated, "Alex is a very promising young talent who has shown great energy and professionalism in his first few months with the club."
“He comes from an exceptional background, having received youth training at Real Madrid and AC Milan. We are delighted to have him as part of our project – which began last summer and has now been extended with the triggering of the buyout clause.”
