Champions League – Arsenal rise to the top of the standings with a 3-1 victory over Bayern Munich


The fifth round of the 2025/26 UEFA Champions League featured another key match, with Arsenal, playing at home at the Emirates Stadium, defeating Bayern Munich 3-1 thanks to goals from Timber, Maduk, and Martinelli.

In the 22nd minute, Saka took a corner kick, and Timber rose to head the ball into the net, giving Arsenal a 1-0 lead. In the 31st minute, Merino passed the ball diagonally, and Eze received it but his shot from inside the penalty area went wide.


In the 32nd minute, Kimmich made a long pass, Gnabry crossed the ball into the box, and Karl-Heinz Lennart slotted it home, leveling the score at 1-1 for Bayern Munich. In the 36th minute, Bayern Munich continued their attack, with Stanišić receiving the ball and shooting, but the ball went wide.


In the 38th minute, Arsenal substituted Maduk for the injured Trossard. In the 45th minute, Timber crossed the ball from the right wing into the box, but Maduk was unable to create a threat.


In the 48th minute of the second half, Saka received the ball and entered the penalty area to shoot, but his shot was saved by Bayern Munich goalkeeper Neuer.


In the 54th minute, Arsenal's corner kick was cleared, and Saka then chipped the ball into the penalty area, where Merino headed it towards goal, but the ball was easily caught by Bayern Munich goalkeeper Neuer. In the 62nd minute, Arsenal had a free kick, and Mosquera's close-range header was blocked by Neuer.


In the 69th minute, Karafiori crossed from the left, and Maduk slotted the ball into the net, giving Arsenal a 2-1 lead over Bayern Munich. In the 77th minute, Eze played a long pass, and Martinelli dribbled past Bayern Munich goalkeeper Neuer before slotting the ball into the empty net, extending Arsenal's lead to 3-1.


In the 90th minute, Arsenal took a free kick, and Calafiori headed the ball towards goal, but Bayern Munich goalkeeper Neuer caught it.


Arsenal ultimately defeated Bayern Munich 3-1 at home. With their fourth consecutive win, Arsenal now sit atop the league table with 15 points.
