Manchester United striker Lothar Cunha has recently regained his form and will return to the Brazilian national team, laying the foundation for his participation in the 2026 World Cup, thanks to Manchester United's strong resurgence under manager Ruben Amorin.

The versatile striker emphasized that his improved performance at the club level not only boosted his confidence but also gave him an edge in the national team competition. Cunha has successfully transformed into a multi-functional attacking player this season, capable of switching between striker and attacking midfielder, which he believes is one of the keys to winning the trust of Brazil national team coach Ancelotti.

At the pre-match press conference for the friendly between Brazil and Senegal, Cunha said, "It's important that the coach trusts me and lets me play in multiple positions. This means I have to take on more responsibility and remain decisive and give my all, no matter which position I'm in."

Speaking about his international career, Cunha also recalled the low point of missing out on the 2022 Qatar World Cup. At the time, playing for Atletico Madrid, he was emotionally devastated by his exclusion from the squad, a moment that went viral online. But now he sees that experience as a turning point in his development.

Cunha said, "Missing out of the Qatar World Cup was really painful, but it also taught me to face setbacks in different ways. I've matured, and that disappointment has made me who I am today."

Cunha now has a chance to be selected for the 2026 World Cup squad, thanks in large part to Manchester United's recent resurgence. Cunha stated, "Manchester United should stay at the top, and I'm fortunate to play for a team that continues to improve and remain competitive. To be selected for the national team, you have to consistently perform well at your club."

Looking ahead to the 2026 World Cup, Cunha specifically praised Ancelotti for giving the Brazilian team a clear direction: "Although the roster is constantly being adjusted, the direction is clear, and everyone knows the goal."
