Former Bayern Munich Spain international left-back Juan Bernat joins Eibar on a free transfer..

Eibar announced on their official website on Saturday that former Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain Spain international left-back Juan Bernat has joined the club on a free transfer.

According to the Spanish Segunda División club's official statement, Bernat has signed on a short-term contract which will only run until the end of the season, with an option to extend for a further year. He will also wear the number 24 jersey.

It is worth mentioning that, this is the first time that Bernat will be playing in a non-top-flight league since playing for Valencia's reserve team years ago.

About Juan Bernat

The 32-year-old Juan Bernat was born on March 1, 1993, in Cullera, Valencian Community, Spain. He is 1.72 meters tall and plays as a left-back.

Bernat joined Valencia's youth academy at the age of 7, began playing for their B team in 2011, and completed his Valencia first-team debut in August of the same year.

During his three-year spell with Los che, Bernat was consistently hailed as one of the best future left-backs in Spanish football thanks to his outstanding performances.

In July 2014, Bernat joined Bayern Munich for €8 million.

During his four-year spell with Die Roten, Bernat won the Bundesliga title four times, the DFB-Pokal Cup once, and the Franz Beckenbauer Super Cup (DFL-Super Cup) once.

On the 2018 summer transfer window deadline day, Bernat joined Paris Saint-Germain for €5 million.

During his five-year spell with Les Parisiens, Bernat won the Ligue 1 title four times, the Trophée des Champions twice, the Coupe de France once, and the Coupe de la Ligue once, as well as reaching the UEFA Champions League final once.

On the 2023 summer transfer window deadline day, Bernat was loaned-out to Benfica. However, plagued by injuries, he only made 7 appearances for the Portuguese giants in all competitions during this spell.

The following August, Bernat was loaned-out to Villarreal. His ownership was officially bought out in January, but he terminated his contract and left the club a month later.

In July 2025, Bernat joined Getafe as a free agent.

During the first half of the season, Bernat made 15 appearances for the La Liga club in all competitions, providing 1 assist.
