Ipswich Town have announced the signing of goalkeeper David Barton. Since starting his career at Tottenham Hotspur, David Barton has made over 400 appearances for the club. He has played for Brentford, Fulham, Brighton & Hove Albion and West Bromwich Albion, mostly in the Premier League and Championship.  

The 36-year-old played for English League One side Reading in the 2024-25 season, making 11 appearances in all competitions. He now joins Ipswich as a free agent, signing for one year. In addition, David Barton will not only perform his match duties, but will also actively participate in the training and guidance of the club's young goalkeepers.  

David Barton said: "I am very pleased to join Ipswich. I have been quietly following the development of Ipswich over the past few years and now I have the opportunity to be personally involved. I am very excited. It is a valuable learning opportunity for me to work with such excellent people at Ipswich, and I look forward to incorporating some new elements into my work."
