Eddie Howe hopes Newcastle can shake off the negative emotions amid the challenges of a busy schedule.

The 2025/26 Premier League season will kick off its 12th round of matches, with Newcastle United hosting Manchester City at St. James' Park. Manager Eddie Howe, in an interview, stated that his team must overcome any negative emotions in the face of the upcoming busy schedule.

In the last league match, Newcastle took the lead in the first half after Harvey Barnes scored, but struggled to concede goals in the second half, ultimately losing 1-3 to Brentford away from home. Newcastle currently sits in 14th place with 12 points, and must also contend with the challenges of the Champions League and the English League Cup.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe said, "We haven't been performing well in the Premier League, and our away form is just as bad. But we're strong at home, doing well in the Champions League, and still in the League Cup, so it's a mixed bag. It's hard to pinpoint a specific reason, but we know the team needs to improve its overall performance."

“We are looking for more stability, and we need more goals. We hope to see a stronger response from the team at this stage, and we really need that response because the upcoming matches are very busy. The schedule for the next two months is very tight, and we cannot allow any negative emotions to continue.”

In addition, Newcastle defender Trippier said, "We understand the fans' disappointment, but it's related to the rapid changes that have occurred in our team, the club, and the fan base in a short period of time.
