World Cup Qualifier – Kane scores twice as England beat Albania 2-0


In another round of Group K matches in the European qualifiers for the 2026 World Cup, England, playing away, defeated Albania 2-0 thanks to two goals from Kane.


Four minutes into the match, England created an attacking opportunity. Rice controlled the ball in the penalty area and volleyed it, but Albanian goalkeeper Strakosha immediately dived to intercept. In the 16th minute, an England cross was cleared, and Rice met the ball at the edge of the penalty area with a long-range shot, but the ball went over the goal.


In the 18th minute, Albania attempted a counter-attack. Hysaj received the ball and fired a long-range shot from the edge of the penalty area, but the ball went over the post. In the 36th minute, Bowen received a pass from Bellingham and unleashed a powerful shot, but the ball was saved by Albanian goalkeeper Strakosha. Shortly after, England won a corner, but Quaanza's header was also caught by Strakosha.


In the 49th minute of the second half, Albania launched an attack. Nasser Aliji passed the ball to Aber Hoxha, who unleashed a long-range shot from outside the penalty area, which England goalkeeper Dean Henderson immediately dived to block. In the 60th minute, England attacked from a corner. Dan Burn headed the ball across, and Bellingham volleyed it from inside the penalty area, but the ball went over the post.


In the 57th minute, Bellingham played a through ball into the penalty area, where Eze received it and fired a low shot, but it was saved by Albanian goalkeeper Strakosha. In the 62nd minute, England substituted Foden and Saka for Rice and Eze.


In the 74th minute, Saka took a corner kick, Nasser Aliji's header clearance went awry, and Kane, positioned in front of the goal, slotted the ball home to give England a 1-0 lead. In the 81st minute, Aslani took a free kick, and Dimist headed the ball over the bar.


In the 82nd minute, Rashford dribbled past his defender and chipped the ball into the penalty area, where Kane headed it into the net, extending England's lead to 2-0. In stoppage time of the second half, Kane received a pass from Rashford and shot, but his effort was blocked.


England ultimately defeated Albania 2-0, securing their eighth consecutive victory and advancing to the 2026 World Cup.
