Since joining Liverpool from Eintracht Frankfurt last summer, French striker Hugo Ekitike has quickly adapted to the pace of English football.

After scoring twice against Newcastle United last week, Ekittiker's goal tally in all competitions this season has reached 15. In a recent media interview, Ekittiker shared his feelings about his first time in the Premier League and his journey of integrating into Anfield.

When discussing the differences between the Premier League and other leagues, Ekittik was most struck by the intensity and density of the matches. He bluntly stated that there is no chance to catch one's breath here.

Ekittik said: "You can't play in the Premier League at only 60% of your potential, or you'll get bullied and end up achieving nothing. You have to be physically and mentally prepared every three days and always maintain the highest level."

Despite the immense competitive challenges of the Premier League, Ekittik said integrating into team life went quite smoothly, thanks to the positive atmosphere in the Liverpool dressing room. He especially thanked his compatriot Ibrahim Konet: "He gave me the most help. He spoke to me in French and explained everything about the club and the people here."

In addition, Ekitic mentioned the warm welcome he received from teammates Jeremy Frimpong and former player Constantinos Tsimikas. Ekitic admitted that his teammates were very open-minded and helpful, which quickly made him feel a sense of belonging.

When asked about his reasons for choosing Liverpool, Ekittić answered simply: "Because they were the champions last season." He stated that joining the best team in England was an opportunity he couldn't refuse, and the team's playing style gave him a glimpse into his future.

Looking ahead to 2026, Ektić hopes to win a trophy with Liverpool, using it as the best springboard to the World Cup.
