Lens officially announced on Sunday the loan arrival of Saud Abdelhamid from AS Roma. He will play for Lens until June 2026, with an optional buyout clause.

The official also confirmed that Abdulhamid will wear the No. 23 jersey at Lens.

Regarding Abdelhamid's arrival, Lens sporting director Jean-Louis Leca explained: "We chose Saoud because he has the energy, explosiveness and fighting spirit that make him a modern full-back. The level of commitment he shows on the field is exactly what we demand from our Lens players."

"Saud is adaptable to a variety of tactical systems, but his pace and quality of crossing are particularly well-suited to Pierre Sage's back three. He is comfortable in possession and possesses excellent counter-attacking abilities. This is why he has become a key player for the Saudi national team. During his time at Roma, he also gained valuable experience playing in Europe."

Leka concluded: "Saud is full of energy and will be able to draw energy from the enthusiastic atmosphere of the Bolart Delely Stadium and perform at his best."

Abdulhamid, 26, primarily plays right back and made his professional debut for Jeddah United in the Saudi Arabian League on December 14, 2018. He subsequently moved to Al-Hilal, where he won two Saudi League titles, two Saudi King's Cups, and three Saudi Super Cups.

In August 2024, Abdulhamid transferred to Roma for 2.5 million euros. However, he has only played 8 times for Roma so far, contributing 1 goal and 1 assist in all competitions.

As for the national team, Abdulhamid has made 45 appearances for Saudi Arabia, including the 2019 Arabian Gulf Cup, the 2022 World Cup, the 2024 Asian Cup and the 2025 Copa America.
