On July 24, ESPN's famous reporter Shams Charania reported that guard Jordan Goodwin has been signed by the Phoenix Suns after being waived by the Los Angeles Lakers, and will return to the team he once played for in the 2025-26 season.

According to Shams , the Lakers chose to cut Goodwin in order to free up roster space to successfully complete the signing of veteran guard Marcus Smart.
