Juarez hopes the referee will be more fair in the second leg

The 2025 Clausura finals will be held at the Nemesio Diaz Stadium in Toluca. The first leg ended without a goal, but it was full of controversy. In an interview after the game, America defender Ramon Juárez said he hoped the referee would be more fair in the second leg and avoid missed penalties that endangered the safety of the players.

In the first leg, Juarez mentioned several fouls that could have resulted in penalties or even red cards, especially Alexis Vega's dangerous flying kick on Kevin Alvarez, which caused great controversy.

Juarez said: "There were several penalties that were not just issues we wanted to complain about, but directly endangered the physical health of the players, such as the kick on Kevin. We will not pursue the past, but hope to see a stable and fair law enforcement performance when we return to Toluca."

The controversial referee Cesar Ramos will officiate the second leg. This referee, who is often at the center of controversy, will shoulder the responsibility of bringing a fair end to this season.

Despite being frustrated with the first-leg decision, Juarez did not publicly criticize the referee, but stressed that the team will focus on the next game: "Some obvious situations were ignored. Of course we will feel frustrated, but everything is left to God. We believe that the game will be fair in the end."

From a technical and tactical point of view, America had a difficult time in the first round against Toluca's solid defense, with only one shot on target. Juarez said: "The game was very close and the confrontation was fierce. Their goal was obviously to shut us out, and they didn't give us much space. Our overall performance was pretty good. What we need to do now is to analyze and improve, as there is no way back in the second round."

Juarez expressed his understanding of the tactical choice of Toluca coach Antonio Mohammed, and also hinted that the decisive battle will be staged in Toluca: "They also have their own strategy, maybe just to defend a game without conceding a goal. That's right, this is football. But who will dominate the game in the end will depend on the second leg."
