Maresca: Chelsea need to be more decisive in both penalty areas; satisfied with the team's rebound.

Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca said after the 2-2 draw against Qarabag that the team still needs to improve its efficiency on both ends of the pitch, but he was satisfied with the players' rebound in adversity.

In this Champions League match, Chelsea took the lead with a goal from Estewan Willian, but the home team then scored two goals in quick succession, putting Chelsea unexpectedly behind at halftime. At halftime, Maresca made three decisive substitutions, and the team took control after the adjustments, with substitute Alejandro Ganacho scoring the crucial equalizer.

The match ended in a 2-2 draw, with both sides earning one point. After the game, Maresca summarized: "The biggest difference was in the two penalty areas. We conceded two goals in our own penalty area, which were avoidable. In the opponent's penalty area, we created many chances but lacked sufficient finishing ability."

“We got off to a good start, scoring the first goal, but then conceded two foolish goals. Qarabag’s pressing was indeed very intense, but we also created chances through possession and passing. Overall, we had both shortcomings and positives.”

In addition, another worrying piece of news from this match was that midfielder Romeo Lavia left the field early due to a quadriceps injury. Maresca revealed that the severity of the injury is still uncertain: "It's really a pity for him; he hasn't been healthy for so long. Hopefully, it's not too serious."

Chelsea have played four Champions League group stage matches so far, with two wins, one draw, and one loss. However, in the Premier League, Chelsea will play their 11th round match on November 9th, hosting bottom-placed Wolverhampton Wanderers.
