Premier League - Rice scores as Arsenal beat West Ham 2-0

A London derby was staged in the 7th round of the 2025/26 Premier League. Arsenal, at the Emirates Stadium, defeated West Ham 2-0 with goals from Rice and Saka.


West Ham United started the match with a corner kick, but Firkrug headed the ball high. In the 5th minute, Arsenal captain Ødegaard received the ball and passed it directly into the penalty area. Timberl took the ball and shot, but it was blocked by West Ham United goalkeeper Areola.


In the 13th minute, Arsenal continued to create offensive opportunities. Saka entered the penalty area and crossed. Džekeres attempted a shot but it was cleared. Eze volleyed the ball but it went over the goal. In the 23rd minute, Saka received a teammate's pass and broke into the penalty area and shot low into the goal, but the goal was ruled out for offside.


In the 30th minute, Ødegaard was injured and was replaced by Martin Subimendy after he could no longer hold on. In the 32nd minute, Arsenal started to pass the ball. Saka made a lob pass, and Džekeres headed the ball but the ball hit the opponent. Then Trossard made a close-range shot but was blocked by Wan-Bissaka.


In the 38th minute, Martin Subimendi passed the ball into the penalty area, and Eze followed up with a powerful shot, but it was blocked by West Ham goalkeeper Areola. Rice then volleyed in the rebound to give Arsenal a 1-0 lead. In the second half stoppage time, Saka passed the ball from the right, and Timber was blocked. Calafiori then shot, but the ball hit the post.


In the 51st minute of the second half, Rice's corner kick was blocked. Saka stopped the ball near the top of the penalty area and took a long shot, but the ball went directly over the goal.


In the 66th minute, Martin Subimendi's lob was met by Timber, who was brought down by West Ham defender Diouf. The referee awarded Arsenal a penalty. Saka then converted the penalty, extending Arsenal's lead to 2-0. In the 78th minute, Rice, who had previously scored for Arsenal, suffered a back injury and was replaced by Merino.


In the 81st minute, Arsenal got a corner kick opportunity, Merino volleyed in the melee but was cleared. In the 84th minute, Arsenal took a free kick, Merino stepped forward to head the ball, but the ball went over the goal.


In the end, Arsenal beat West Ham 2-0 at home. After two consecutive wins, Arsenal currently ranks first in the standings with 16 points.
