Sunderland will travel to face Oxford United in the fourth round of the 2025/26 FA Cup. Lebrides stated that the players must show a stronger performance in order to continue their campaign in the competition.
In the third round of the FA Cup, Sunderland drew with their opponents in regular time thanks to a goal from Enzo Lefebvre, but eventually defeated Everton 3-0 on penalties to advance to the fourth round.
However, in the earlier Premier League match, Sunderland lost 0-1 to Liverpool at home.
Sunderland manager Lebrides said, "This is another competition, and one of the most iconic in English football. Just like we did against Everton, we will come out strong."
"Given the current situation, our most recent match served as a reminder that the league is extremely competitive, and we anticipate a tough game. To secure victory, we must demonstrate the strength of Sunderland."
Furthermore, Oxford United are currently 23rd in the Championship table, so they need a victory to boost the players' confidence.
Speaking about their upcoming match against Oxford United, Lebrees said, "They are very dangerous from set pieces, and we have struggled to deal with their direct style of play before. It's a different style of game, and we have to be prepared for that. Sometimes you want to play a great game through technical ability, but that's not enough to win."
"Crucial moments will determine the outcome of the game. If we are not prepared or fail to seize opportunities to make our opponents pay, the game will become difficult. We will start again, and so will they, and we will give our all for this game."
