Championship club Swansea City officially announced that it has signed young center back Kaelan Casey on loan from Premier League club West Ham United for a season.
At just 20 years old, Kessie will add depth and vitality to Swansea City's defense in the new Championship season. Kessie has been training at West Ham United's youth academy since the age of five and has gradually grown into a highly anticipated young defender.
Kessie made his professional debut in the UEFA League against Steaua Bucharest in November 2022, and then helped the team win the FA Youth Cup in 2023, scoring a crucial goal in the 5-1 final victory over Arsenal.
In May 2024, Casey made his Premier League debut, coming on as a substitute in the season-ending match against Luton Town. This summer, he joined the team in the Premier League Summer Series in the United States and got a chance to play under coach Graham Potter.
Swansea City manager Alan Sheehan expressed high expectations for the signing: "We are very pleased to introduce Kailan before the start of the new season. He is a young and promising central defender who can bring more competition and options to our defense."
"He is highly regarded at West Ham and has trained with the first team during pre-season. Most importantly, he is eager to prove himself in the Championship, which is exactly the attitude we need."
Swansea City hopes that the young defender can get regular playing time on the pitch while continuing to complete his personal growth and breakthroughs.
