World Cup Qualifier – Sané scores twice as Germany thrashes Slovakia 6-0


In the final round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers, Group A, Germany, playing at home, defeated Slovakia 6-0 thanks to goals from Waltmard, Gnabry, Sané, Ridler Baku, and Vedraogo.


Four minutes into the match, Germany created an attacking opportunity when Wirtz delivered a diagonal pass into the penalty area, where Gnabry leaped to head the ball towards goal, but it was caught by Slovakian goalkeeper Dubravka. In the 14th minute, Wirtz received a cross from his teammate in the penalty area, took a few steps, and then fired a shot, but the ball went over the post.


In the 18th minute, a corner kick taken by Germany was blocked by Slovakian goalkeeper Dubravka. Kimmich then chipped the ball from the right wing into the box, where Waltermad rose up and headed it into the net, giving Germany a 1-0 lead.


In the 21st minute, Slovakia launched a counter-attack after a mistake by Germany, and Duris's low shot in the ensuing scramble was saved by German goalkeeper Oliver Baumann. In the 25th minute, Voltmar lobbed a pass to Gnabry, who entered the penalty area and fired a shot, but it was blocked by Slovakian goalkeeper Dubravka.


In the 29th minute, Goretzka played a through ball into the penalty area, and Gnabry slotted home a low shot, giving Germany a 2-0 lead over Slovakia. In the 36th minute, Wirtz played a long pass from the center circle, and Sané received the pass before slotting home a shot, making it 3-0 for Germany.


In the 41st minute, Walter Madd intercepted the ball and launched an attack. Wirtz followed up and chipped the ball to Sané, who volleyed it into the net, extending Germany's lead to 4-0.


At the start of the second half, Germany substituted Nmecha for Pavlovic. In the 50th minute, Germany had a free kick and a chance, but Sané's shot was cleared. In the 67th minute, Gnabry crossed from the penalty area, and Ridler Baku slotted the ball home, making it 5-0 for Germany.


In the 72nd minute, Germany launched an attack. Goretzka received a pass from his teammate and shot from inside the penalty area, but the ball was saved by Slovakian goalkeeper Dubravka. In the 79th minute, Sané and his teammate combined to pass the ball, and Vedraogo received it and fired a low shot into the net, giving Germany a commanding 6-0 lead over Slovakia.


In the end, Germany defeated Slovakia 6-0 at home and qualified for the World Cup finals as the top team in their group.
