Inter Miami came from behind and defeated Porto 2-1 on matchday 2 of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup Group A Group stage match the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta, USA on Thursday.

In the first half, Aghehowa scored a penalty. In the second half, Segovia volleyed into the net and Messi scored a free kick. In the end, Inter Miami came from behind and defeated Porto 2-1. After this round of games, Inter Miami is temporarily second on the table with 4 points; Dragões is temporarily third with 1 point.

First Half

In the 5th minute, João Mário was knocked down by Noah Allen after he got the ball and dribbled into the right side of the box. The VAR assistant referee immediately intervened. The referee walked to the sidelines to watch the VAR video replay and confirmed that Allen had committed a foul, thus he awarded Porto a penalty on the spot!

Samu Aghehowa took the penalty by striking the ball with his right foot, and the ball initially was saved by Óscar Ustari but it still deflected into the bottom left corner of the net anyhow. Porto broke the deadlock early to take a 0-1 lead! This is the 26th goal that the Spain international center forward wonderkid has scored in all competitions this season!

In the 39th minute, Aghehowa passes horizontally from the left side of the box. Rodrigo Mora, got the ball and took a few steps before and volleying with his right foot from the center side of the box, but his shot was blocked by Maximiliano Falcón's header in front of the goal line. Porto missed a golden opportunity to score another goal!

At the end of the first half, Inter Miami temporarily trailed Porto 0-1 and entered the half time break.

Second Half

Both teams switch sides as the match continued. Marcelo Weigandt crossed into the box from the edge of the byline at the right wing. Telasco Segovia quickly followed up and upon receiving the pass, volleyed the ball with his right foot from the center of the box. His shot flew straight into the upper right corner of the net, leaving Claudio Ramos had no time to react. Inter Miami equalized Porto at 1-1!

7 minutes later, Inter Miami got a deadly free kick opportunity. Leo Messi took the free kick and by directly striking the ball with his left foot from outside the penalty area. The ball flew straight into the upper right corner of the net leaving Ramos out of reach. Inter Miami quickly overtook Porto by 2-1! This was the 68th free kick that the legendary Argentina international player has scored in his career!

When the final whistle is blown, Inter Miami came from behind and defeated Porto 2-1.
