Alba announced he will retire at the end of this season at the age of 36.

Jordi Alba announced on Tuesday that he will officially retire at the end of this season.

"This is a decision I have made after long and careful consideration," he stated. "After many years of intense professional football, I feel now is the right time to start a new chapter in my life and to fully enjoy time with my family."

"I'm thrilled to play for Inter Miami and sincerely thank the fans for their support. I'm honored to have been a part of the team's glorious moments and to have witnessed precious moments in the club's growth. My goal now is to finish this season at my best and give it my all in the playoffs."

Alba, 36, a graduate of the La Masia youth academy, primarily plays left-back. He has played for Cornella, Tarragona, Valencia, and Barcelona, making over 605 appearances, contributing 37 goals and 107 assists. He also won one Champions League, one Club World Cup, six La Liga titles, one UEFA Super Cup, five Copa del Rey titles, and four Spanish Super Cups with Barcelona.

In July 2023, Alba signed for Inter Miami on a free transfer after terminating his contract with Barcelona. He reunited with former teammates Messi, Busquets, and Suárez at Inter Miami, where he has made 95 appearances, scoring 14 goals and providing 28 assists. He also won both the MLS regular season championship and the NA League Cup.

As for the national team, Alba has played 93 times for the Spanish team, scored 9 goals and provided 22 assists, and won 1 European Cup (2012) and 1 UEFA Nations League (2023) with the team.

With Alba's retirement decision, he will also terminate his contract with Inter Miami, which was originally scheduled to expire in 2027. Inter Miami chairman and co-owner Jorge Mas said: "Jordi is an outstanding signing for Inter Miami and one of the best players in MLS over the past two seasons. His experience, consistency and offensive contributions are crucial to the club's success. In addition to his goals and assists, he is also a key asset and professional role model within the team."

"Those who know me know that family is the most important thing in my life. Jordi will always be a member of the Miami International family. We sincerely wish Jordi happiness in this new stage of his life."
