The Oklahoma City Thunder have confirmed that 20-year-old Serbian star guard Nikola Topić has been diagnosed with testicular cancer and is currently undergoing chemotherapy.

Team general manager Sam Presti announced the news at a press conference, stating that the medical team is extremely optimistic about Topic's long-term recovery.

Topitch was diagnosed earlier this month after undergoing a biopsy at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. Presti revealed that Topitch hopes to disclose his condition only after officially starting treatment. He stated, "Topitch has everything he needs to overcome this illness, and we are full of confidence in his future."

Despite being diagnosed with cancer, Topic continues to train daily, demonstrating remarkable willpower. The Thunder emphasized that there is currently no timetable for his return; the priority is for him to focus on his recovery. Presti added that the entire team, including management and coaching staff, is fully supporting Topic's treatment and recovery.

Topic was the 12th overall pick in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft, but missed the entire 2024–25 season due to a torn ACL. He rebounded in form during this year's Summer League and preseason, contributing 10 points and 7 assists against the Charlotte Hornets, showcasing his potential as a future core member of the Thunder.

Despite facing significant life challenges, the medical community generally considers testicular cancer to be one of the most curable cancers, especially when detected early and treated appropriately. The Thunder and their fans are confident in Topic's recovery and return to the court, hoping he will soon be healthy and back on the court.
