Al-Hilal announced on their official website on Friday that the club have renewed the contract of its Senegalese international center-back Kalidou Koulibaly.
According to Al-Hilal's official statement, Koulibaly has signed on a new short-term one-and-a-half-year deal with the club which will only run until the summer of 2027.
About Kalidou Koulibaly
The 34-year-old Kalidou Koulibaly was born on June 20, 1991, in Saint-Dié, Vosges, France. He is 1.86 meters tall and plays as a center-back. He holds dual French and Senegalese citizenship.
Koulibaly joined the youth academy of his hometown amateur league club, Saint-Dié, at the age of eight. He later moved to the Metz youth academy, but was released at the age of 15 and returned to Saint-Dié's youth academy.
In July 2009, Koulibaly returned to the Metz youth academy and played for their reserve team. He then completed his Metz first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in August of the following year.
In July 2012, Koulibaly joined Genk for €1 million.
During his two-year spell at Genk, Koulibaly won the Belgian Cup once.
In July 2014, Koulibaly joined Napoli for €6.5 million.
During his eight-year spell at Napoli, Koulibaly won the Coppa Italia Cup and the Supercoppa Italiana once each, and his outstanding performances often led to speculation that he would be joining Manchester United.
In July 2022, Koulibaly joined Chelsea for £33 million.
However, his performances were severely affected by his inability to adapt to the fast-paced style of play in the Premier League.
In June of the following year, Koulibaly joined Al-Hilal for £20 million.
Since joining Al-Hilal, Koulibaly has made 112 appearances for the club in all competitions so far, scoring 6 goals and providing 5 assists, winning the Saudi Super Cup twice, the Saudi Pro League once, and the Saudi King's Cup once.
