The 13th round of the 2025/26 Bundesliga season will take place, with Borussia Mönchengladbach traveling to face Mainz. Eugen Polanski, in an interview, expressed satisfaction with the team's recent performance and stated that they will bring their strengths to the match against Mainz.
After a 0-0 draw against RB Leipzig in the last round of the Bundesliga, Borussia Mönchengladbach currently sits in 12th place in the standings with 13 points, having won 3, drawn 1, and lost 1 of their last 5 matches. Unfortunately, in the earlier German Cup, Mönchengladbach were eliminated 1-2 by St. Pauli after a goal from Tabakovic, failing to advance to the quarterfinals.
When discussing the team's recent form, Borussia Mönchengladbach coach Eugen Polanski said, "I am satisfied with the team's progress so far, and we have won many close matches recently. Although we did not fully perform in the previous cup competitions, I can feel that the expectations for us have suddenly increased."
“We have a very clear understanding of how the team plays, and we know what we need to do on the pitch to succeed. We have won three of our last four league games and drawn the other. We are in a very stable state right now, and we feel confident every time we step onto the pitch, while also fully understanding how we must perform.”
Regarding the lineup, Eugen Polanski said, "We noticed that Kleindinst has some knee problems, so he will be unable to play in this match. Onorat has been experiencing muscle discomfort in his calf, so he will also be unable to play in the Mainz match. However, we are very happy that Kastrup has recovered his fitness."
It is worth mentioning that Mainz recently dismissed head coach Bo Henriksen, so U23 head coach Benjamin Hoffmann will temporarily take over as head coach of Mainz.
Eugen Polanski commented, "Their sudden change of head coach did surprise us, but we will focus more on our strengths. We have analyzed our opponents in advance, so this will not have a significant impact on our preparations. Benjamin Hoffmann's system is similar to the previous one, and he only has a few days to convey some ideas to the first team, so we don't think Mainz will make any disruptive changes in tomorrow's game."
"Judging from their playing style, their approach is very clear. They will push forward vertically a lot in the game and put a lot of power and intensity into it. But this is not something we cannot deal with. We will also bring our own advantages. This game will be a tough challenge for us, and the same goes for Mainz."
