According to Jack Fisher on Sunday, the Miami Heat are now considered one of Ja Morant's potential destinations.
Since his public conflict with coach Thomas Isalo in early November, Ja Morant's future has become a focus of attention. He has also been linked with several teams, including the Sacramento Kings and the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Surprisingly, the Miami Heat are now reportedly interested in Ja Morant. Fisher pointed out, "League sources revealed that the Heat have been discussing Ja Morant of the Memphis Grizzlies and exploring how Miami's system and environment could benefit his development."
Ja Morant, 26, is a 6'6" (1.91m) point guard with a 6'6" (2.06m) wingspan. He was selected by the Memphis Grizzlies with the second overall pick in 2019. To date, he has played 319 regular season games for the Grizzlies, averaging 22.4 points, 4.7 rebounds, 7.4 assists, and 1.0 steals per game, and has been selected to the NBA All-Star team twice (2022, 2023).
Morant also played 22 playoff games, averaging 26.0 points, 6.2 rebounds, 8.1 assists, and 1.4 steals per game. His best performance was leading his team to the Western Conference semifinals in the 2021/22 season, but they ultimately lost 2-4 to the Golden State Warriors.
Affected by a calf injury and suspension, Morant has only played 12 games this season, averaging 17.9 points, 3.5 rebounds, 7.6 assists, and 1.0 steals per game, with a field goal percentage of 35.9% and a three-point percentage of 16.7%. The Grizzlies have a 7-3 record during his absence and currently sit ninth in the Western Conference with an 11-13 record.
Reports suggest the Heat might offer Tyler Herro, Davy Mitchell, Andrew Wiggins, and Kasparras Jacuccionis in a trade package, while Bam Adebayo is considered untouchable. However, the Grizzlies appear not to be considering trading Morant and have reportedly rejected inquiries from several teams.
