February 19th - According to ESPN , the Memphis Grizzlies officially announced that their star guard Ja Morant will be sidelined for at least another two weeks due to a slow recovery from his left elbow injury, after which he will undergo a follow-up evaluation.
Ja Morant sprained his left ulnar collateral ligament ( UCL ) during a game on January 21 and has been in the rehabilitation phase since then. The Grizzlies stated that he will undergo another evaluation by the medical team in two weeks to determine his specific return date.
The 26 -year-old Morant has only played 20 games this season , averaging 19.5 points, 7.4 assists, and 4.6 rebounds per game. Frequent injuries have prevented him from maintaining a consistent attendance rate, which has also affected the Grizzlies' overall record to some extent.
In addition to Morant, Grizzlies guard Kentavious Caldwell - Pope will also undergo surgery. According to the team, KCP will have surgery on Thursday to correct a dislocated right pinky finger; the exact recovery time will be announced after the surgery.
