Nottingham Forest released a statement on Sunday confirming the signing of Manchester City goalkeeper Stefan Ortega. He will wear the number 27 shirt at Nottingham Forest on a contract until June 30, 2026.

Multiple sources have reported that Ortega's transfer fee is £500,000. For Nottingham Forest, his arrival is expected to fill the void left by John Victor's season-ending injury.

Regarding Ortega's signing, Forest's global football director, Edu Gaspar, said: "Stephan has a wealth of experience and a winning mentality. He has played for a successful team for the past few seasons."

“When we realized we needed to strengthen our goalkeeping position, Stefan immediately became our first choice. His arrival will increase the competition among goalkeepers and provide support to the team both on and off the field.”

Ortega, 33, has been a substitute since joining Manchester City in 2022. To date, he has made 56 appearances for the city, keeping 25 clean sheets, and has won one Champions League title, one Club World Cup title, two Premier League titles, one UEFA Super Cup title, one FA Cup title, and one Community Shield title with the team.

Before joining the Premier League, Ortega played for Arminia Bielefeld twice. He made 220 appearances for Bielefeld and kept 65 clean sheets, and was considered a key contributor to the team's promotion to the Bundesliga in the 2019/20 season.

Ortega also served as the goalkeeper for 1860 Munich for three years (2014-2017). According to Transfermarkt, he made 64 appearances for 1860 Munich, keeping 10 clean sheets during that period.

After completing the transfer, Ortega bid farewell to Manchester City in a statement: "I had a very enjoyable time at Manchester City. I left not only as a better goalkeeper, but also with a lot of valuable experience that helped me grow into a better person."
