According to well-known Premier League journalist Sammy Mokbel on Thursday, Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner's continued position next summer is in doubt.

The 51-year-old Glasner has previously coached Reid, Linz, Wolfsburg and Frankfurt, and led Frankfurt to win the 2021/22 Europa League. He succeeded Roy Hodgson at Crystal Palace in February 2024 and has led the team to win the 2024/25 FA Cup, with an overall record of 36 wins, 21 draws and 15 losses.

Glasner's current contract with Crystal Palace runs until the end of the 2025/26 season. Crystal Palace has offered Glasner a contract extension this summer, but the Austrian has decided to wait until the end of the summer transfer window to make an assessment based on the club's transfer situation.

All signs indicate that Crystal Palace's summer transfer activity has failed to satisfy Glasner. Despite a £16.3 million profit, the club's investment in new signings was minimal: of the five new signings, only one, Jeremiah Pino, has started in the Premier League. Glasner inevitably interprets Crystal Palace's transfer activity as a sign of a divergence in their respective goals. Unless Crystal Palace offers Glasner some assurance and greater control over transfers, his chances of staying are slim.

Sami Mokbel concluded by noting that Glasner has emerged as a potential candidate for Manchester United's new manager. Bayern Munich is also closely monitoring Glasner's progress, but there is no sign that Vincent Kompany's position is under threat.
