Bologna issued a statement on Thursday, announcing that it has renewed its contract with head coach Vincenzo Italiano for one year. Italiano's term was originally scheduled to last until 2026, and the new agreement will extend it to June 30, 2027.

Vincenzo Italiano, 47, has been engaged in coaching since 2014 and has served as head coach for Trapani, Spezia, Fiorentina and other teams. Since taking over Bologna in June 2024, he has led the team to a record of 22 wins, 17 draws and 12 losses, and won the Italian Cup this season.

Bologna last won the Italian Cup in 1974. Although Bologna ranked only ninth in the Serie A standings this season, they still successfully qualified for the European Cup next season.

After completing the contract extension, Bologna CEO Claudio Finucci said: "We are very happy to continue our partnership with Vincenzo Italiano. As we have said many times before, the contract extension has always been our original intention. We are also ready to meet the many challenges of next season with him."

Italiano added: “I am very happy to continue this journey: there are still many exciting events and unfinished goals ahead of us, waiting for us to meet and achieve together. See you in July, when we will return in full shape!”
