Fiorentina sacked head coach Stefano Pioli after winless start to the new season in the league..


Fiorentina announced on their official website on Tuesday that the club's head coach Stefano Pioli, has been sacked effective immediately.


According to Fiorentina's official statement, the club is very grateful for the professionalism shown by Pioli and his backroom staff during this period, but due to the extremely poor results, the management had to make this decision to ensure the club has the best chance of avoiding relegation.


Until a new head coach is appointed, U19s team coach Danielle Galloppa will temporarily take over as head coach of the first team.


This is the second time that the former AC Milan head coach has been sacked this year.

The 60-year-old Pioli was born on October 20, 1965, in Parma, Italy. He is 1.86 meters tall and played as a center-back for the likes of Parma, Juventus, Hellas Verona, Fiorentina and many more during his playing career.


After retiring in the summer of 1999, Pioli successively managed Bologna, Salernitana, Modena, Parma, Grosseto, Piacenza, and Sassuolo.


In the summer of 2014, Pioli was appointed as Lazio head coach, but was sacked in April 2016 after a humiliating defeat to city rivals Roma.


In November 2016, Pioli became manager of head coach, but was sacked in May of the following year due to poor results.


In the summer of 2017, Pioli was appointed Fiorentina head coach. During this time, he experienced the devastating death of captain Davide Astori before a match.


In October 2019, Pioli was appointed AC Milan head coach.
