In stoppage time of the second half, Ben White kicked Viñas in the foot while clearing the ball in the penalty area, and after VAR intervention, Uruguay was awarded a penalty. Valverde then converted the penalty, helping Uruguay equalize at 1-1.

England were ultimately held to a 1-1 draw by Uruguay at Wembley Stadium.

England manager Thomas Tuchel said, "I'm perfectly satisfied with our performance. I like how the team presented its tactical structure. We keep trying, and I think overall we were the better team."

“We created some good chances from set pieces, the biggest one being Calvert-Lewin’s shot in the 60th minute. We then had to make adjustments because Maduk and Foden left the field injured, which had a big impact on us. We brought on a lot of new players and made several changes after that, so I’m very grateful for the challenge this game presented and I’m very satisfied with the team’s performance.”

Tuchel also pointed out, "I like the way we play. We know our opponents are strong. Uruguay's coach Marcelo Bielsa told me a few months ago that he would bring his strongest lineup and take this game very seriously, and he might not even make many rotations."

"So I think we played very well, everyone performed well. We played as a team and executed the tactical structure very well, so there are many commendable aspects to this game."

It's worth mentioning that Ben White, who plays for Arsenal, returned to the England national team after several years and scored a goal in this match, although he also led to a penalty for the opponent in the final stages.

Speaking about the defender's performance, Tuchel said, "It was simply unbelievable, especially the goal he scored, although it didn't ultimately become the winning goal."

"However, he might have been too aggressive and impatient in the final moments of defense, but I still don't think it was a penalty. It would have been better if he had kept a clean sheet and won, but that doesn't change my opinion of the player."
