Arsenal advance to the League Cup quarterfinals; Arteta proud of young players.

Goals from Nwaneri and Saka secured a 2-0 victory for Arsenal in a key fourth-round match of the 2025/26 EFL Cup, eliminating Brighton from contention. Arteta expressed pride in the team's young players and hoped they would learn from the experience.

In the 57th minute of the second half, Lewis Skeley received a through ball from Merino and then crossed it to Envaneri, who fired a low shot into the net, giving Arsenal a 1-0 lead. In the 76th minute, Lewis Skeley's pass was cleared, and Saka received the ball and scored on the rebound, making it 2-0.

Arsenal ultimately defeated Brighton 2-0 at home, advancing to the quarterfinals.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta said in an interview, "It's a great day for many reasons. We've reached the quarterfinals of the cup. We made a lot of rotations in this game, fielded some players who have never played together before, and faced a very strong Premier League team."

“I had Doman and Harriman Anus start for the first time, and I think everyone is incredibly proud of their performance. At their age, they faced such a huge challenge and delivered such a performance, and we even won the game.”

Arteta continued, "Incapie and Mosquera have never played together before, and it will take time to build chemistry, but I think they performed very well. Especially Incapie, who hasn't had much playing time before, this was his first start for the team."

"It must be emphasized again that there are many positive aspects to this competition, but there are also some important lessons and experiences that we need to be wary of."
