Arteta says Arsenal have what it takes to win the title

Arsenal will play against AC Milan in a pre-season friendly at the Singapore National Stadium. When talking about the goals for the new season, Arteta said that his team already has the important elements needed to compete for the championship, but there is only one championship, so the team must focus on what can be controlled and mastered.

In the 2024/25 Premier League, Arsenal achieved 20 wins, 14 draws and 4 losses after extremely fierce competition, but finally only finished second. This is also the third consecutive season that Arsenal has finished second in the Premier League.

However, Arsenal had previously signed midfielder Nergaard, goalkeeper Kepa, midfielder Martin Zubermendi and striker Maduek, which also made fans look forward to Arsenal's performance in the new season.

Arsenal manager Arteta said in an interview, "We will observe how the situation develops every year, but I see a good balance of maturity, experience, youth and fighting spirit, and the team has all these elements. But the problem is that there are still 6 to 8 teams that have the conditions to compete for the championship, and in the end there is only one champion."

"So we have to be extremely focused on the things that we can control and the things that we can do, and just focus on that to achieve our goals at the end of the season."

Arteta continued, "The competition will only become more and more intense every season, the level will continue to improve, and we must also raise our requirements accordingly."

“We are definitely active in the transfer market and we have to improve the quality of the players we have, which is a very key goal. In the pre-season preparation period, it is necessary to establish the right foundations and principles and make sure the team is in the best condition at the beginning of the season and ensure the completeness of the squad as much as possible.”

In addition, in the first round of the 2025/26 Premier League, Arsenal will go to Old Trafford to challenge Manchester United, and Amorim's team also has a strong ambition to get off to a strong start.

"At the end of last season and coming back, the only thing everyone talked about was how can we be better? How can we do more, and we knew we were very close to success in two big competitions," Arteta said.

"We are now taking that crucial step. There will be many details and many key moments that need to be in our favor, and we must work hard for it."
