Arteta updates the team's injury situation: Saka is out, Saliba and White are expected to return

Arsenal are about to host Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford and manager Mikel Arteta has provided an injury update on the squad in his pre-match press conference.

Bukayo Saka missed the international break with a hamstring injury and will remain sidelined. Arteta revealed: "Bukayo is still recovering and he is working hard to return as soon as possible, but we have to respect the process. He is making good progress in his recovery, but we need to see how he reacts after increasing the load."

In contrast, the news about William Saliba and Ben White is more positive. Arteta confirmed that Saliba has resumed training and his appearance will depend on the situation. White has also trained with the team and is fine.

There is also concern about the recovery progress of long-term injured players. Kai Havertz underwent surgery for a knee injury at the beginning of the season, and Arteta said the German midfielder is recovering well and is now able to walk freely and start basic training.

Regarding Havertz's condition, Arteta said: "He is gradually increasing the load on his knee and the recovery plan has changed from a weekly one to a monthly one. Although the timetable cannot be determined, I know Kai will try his best to return as soon as possible."

Another long-term injured player, Gabriel Jesus, is also absent due to a knee injury. Arteta explained that considering the long recovery period for his surgery, he is not expected to return until December or January at the earliest, so the team decided not to include him in this season's Champions League squad.

Arsenal faces a tough injury challenge as the Premier League and Champions League schedules progress. Arteta stressed that the team will ensure the health of its players and arrange their return time appropriately to ensure the long-term stability of the squad.
