Aston Villa announced on their official website on Wednesday that the club have extended the contract of its England international attacking midfielder Morgan Rogers.

According to Villa's official statement, Rogers signed on a new long-term six-and-a-half-year deal with the club which runs until the summer of 2031.

After completing his contract extension, Rogers, who was interviewed by the Aston Villa official website again, said: "I'm really happy. The club's trust warms my heart, and I can't wait to sign. I'm truly delighted."

"This place feels like home. As a local, it feels even sweeter. The coaches, players, staff — everyone here is warm and friendly, making me feel right at home every day."

"I'm happy to be here training, working hard, and giving my all every day. I really enjoy everything here."

"For me, the most important thing is enjoying football and being able to express myself freely. I have no reason not to stay here."

About Morgan Rodgers

The 23-year-old Rodgers was born on July 26, 2002, in Halesowen, West Midlands, England. He is 1.87 meters tall and primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also play as a left winger and right winger.

A lifelong West Bromwich Albion fan and close friend of his national team teammate Jude Bellingham since childhood, Rogers joined West Bromwich Albion's youth academy at the age of seven and completed his West Bromwich Albion first-team debut by coming on as a substitute in the FA Cup match against Brighton in February 2019.

In August of the same year, Rogers moved to Manchester City, where he won the FA Youth Cup with the club once.

Starting in the summer of 2021, Rogers was loaned-out to Lincoln City, Bournemouth, and Blackpool successively.

During his loan spells, Rogers gained recognition for his outstanding performances and was listed as one of the young English players that has the highest potential in EA's FIFA Career Mode.

In July 2023, Rogers moved to Middlesbrough for £1.5 million.

During his time there, he helped the club achieve a surprising run to the Carabao Cup semi-finals, winning the Golden Boot with five goals.

On the 2024 winter transfer window deadline day, Rogers joined Aston Villa for £23 million.

Since becoming a member of the Villans, Rogers has so far made 86 appearances for the Premier League powerhouse in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 20 assists. During which he has helped the club reach the FA Cup semi-finals once, the Conference League to semi-finals once, and the Champions League quarter-finals once.
