Atalanta announced on Wednesday that Ghanaian attacker Kamel Sulaimana has joined from Southampton. The two sides signed a contract until June 30, 2029, with an option for a one-year extension.
According to Italian transfer expert Gianluca Di Marzio, Sulemana's transfer fee is 17 million euros plus 4 million floating. Southampton will also retain 15% of Sulemana's secondary transfer share.
The 23-year-old Sulaimana mainly plays as a left winger, but can also play as a center forward, attacking midfielder, shadow striker, etc. He received youth training at the "Right to Dream" Football Academy and joined the academy's partner club in Denmark, Nordsjælland, in January 2022.
Sulaimana then played for Rennes for two and a half years, contributing 6 goals and 4 assists in 47 games in all lines. In January 2023, he joined Southampton from Rennes for 25 million euros and signed a four-and-a-half-year contract.
To date, Sulaimana has made 74 appearances for Southampton, scoring 4 goals and providing 7 assists.
After completing the signing, Suleymana said: "I am very happy and proud to join Atalanta. First of all, I would like to thank the Atalanta fans and the club for their warm welcome. I can't wait to play for Atalanta."
"I just visited the training center," he added. "It's very impressive with its spacious venue, complete facilities and rich functions. I'm very happy to start a new journey in Atlanta. So far, I'm very satisfied with everything I've seen. I will do my best to repay the club's trust and can't wait to put on the jersey as soon as possible."
