La Liga club Barcelona officially announced that it has completed the contract extension with French defender Jules Kounde, and the new contract will last until June 30, 2030.
Since joining from Sevilla in the 2022-23 season, Kounde has gradually become the absolute main force at Barcelona's right back position. Although he joined as a central defender, under Hansi Flick's system, he firmly occupied the right side with his solid defense and strong impact.
Over the past two seasons, Kounde has played in 86 consecutive games, demonstrating remarkable consistency and reliability. In the 2024-25 season, he has played in 53 games, making 141 appearances for Barcelona, ranking fourth in the club's history among French players.
Koundé's contributions were not only evident on the defensive end, but he also played a crucial role in crucial moments. His 116th-minute winning goal in the 2025 Copa del Rey final against Real Madrid, helping his team lift the trophy, is a moment that will live long in the memories of Barcelona fans.
To date, Koundé has won five trophies with the club: two La Liga titles, two Spanish Super Cups, and a Copa del Rey. His boundless energy and versatile play on both ends of the pitch have made him a fan favorite and an integral part of Barcelona's defence.
With the completion of the contract extension, Koundé will continue to inject stability and passion into Barcelona's right flank for the next few years. For Barcelona, which is aiming to return to the top of Europe, Koundé's contract extension is not only a consolidation of its existing strength, but also an important part of its future blueprint.
