Bowen speaks out heartbrokenly: I let everyone down, but the team will never give up.

In the FA Cup quarter-finals, West Ham United went through extra time but ultimately lost to Leeds United in a penalty shootout, failing to advance to the semi-finals.

As the team's key player, Jared Bowen missed his penalty in the shootout. In a post-match interview, Bowen couldn't hide his disappointment and self-blame, but he also showed his determination to lead the team to a comeback in the upcoming Premier League relegation battle.

In this match, West Ham United, trailing 0-2, miraculously scored two goals in the 11 minutes of stoppage time in the second half, forcing the game into extra time. However, in the grueling penalty shootout, Bowen failed to convert his penalty.

"I'm really heartbroken. I feel like I let everyone down." Bowen said in a downcast interview. "It hurts so much because we put in so much effort to tie the score."

“I know how special it would be to reach the semi-finals and have the fans enjoy a day at Wembley Stadium. Missing a chance in a penalty shootout, especially leading to elimination from the FA Cup, is the lowest point you want to experience.”

Despite the bitter ending, Bowen was still proud of the team's fighting spirit: "We have an excellent team that never gives up, which is a quality that must be possessed to play for this club. Never throwing down the towel is one of my biggest mottos."

After being eliminated from the FA Cup, West Ham United's remaining goals for the 2025-26 season are focused entirely on avoiding relegation in the Premier League. This Friday night, they will host Wolverhampton Wanderers at home, and a victory would give them a chance to temporarily escape the relegation zone.

Bowen vowed to turn the pain of the loss into motivation for Friday night's game: "Tonight's pain is unforgettable, but tomorrow we must pick ourselves up, recover our strength, and focus on Friday's do-or-die game. We must play like we did in the second half and overtime today. We need everyone's strength. The team is ready to go again."
