Brentford coach: I hope Mbeumo will continue to stay in the team, but I don't rule out selling him for a high price

Brentford manager Thomas Frank said on Wednesday that he hopes Brian Mbeumo will stay at the club next season and the club has not ruled out selling him this summer if the right offer comes along.

The 25-year-old Brian Mbeumo made his debut in Troyes youth training and transferred to Brentford for 6.5 million euros in August 2019. He mainly plays as a right winger in Brentford. So far, he has made 237 appearances, scored 68 goals and provided 49 assists.

So far this season, Mbeumo has played 37 times for Brentford, contributing 18 goals and 7 assists, helping the team to 13 wins, 7 draws and 13 losses, accumulating 46 points and ranking 11th in the Premier League. His efficient performance on the offensive end has attracted the attention of many clubs, including Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur.

In an exclusive interview with Sky Sports, Thomas Frank talked about Mbeumo's future. He said: "I am the manager and I want my best players to stay with the team forever. I know Brian is very happy at Brentford and he is in a period of rise, in good form and performing very well. What will happen in the future? I don't know."

"I have said it many times: we are a 'selling club'. We must also emphasize that there are only ten clubs in the world that are not 'selling clubs'.

He added: "If the right offer was made and it was high enough, I'm sure the club would be open to a move for Brian. But I'm delighted that he's still at Brentford. I'm also convinced that Brian would be very happy if he stayed."

Mbemmo is not the only player who may leave Brentford this summer. It is reported that Nottingham Forest has approached Brentford to buy 28-year-old Congolese center forward Yone Visa, and Dortmund has also shown interest in 23-year-old German left winger Kevin Schade. According to German media reports, 31-year-old Dutch goalkeeper Mark Flecken may transfer to Leverkusen.

Regarding the transfer rumors of the above players, Frank said: "If we sell any players, I expect the number will be very small. Although some players have worked together for a long time, the team has also undergone some changes. I think this change is both beneficial and healthy."

“I expect the squad to remain largely the same next season,” he concluded.
