Brentford sign Michael Kayode on five-year deal

Brentford Football Club has officially announced that it has signed a contract with Michael Kayode, who joined the club on loan in January 2025 and has now made the move permanent. The two sides have signed a five-year contract with an option for a one-year extension.

Michael Kayode joined Brentford on loan from Fiorentina in January 2025 and after half a season the club has now completed his permanent move. After an impressive six months in west London, the 20-year-old has extended his contract with the club until at least 2030.

On signing his new contract, Michael Kayode said: “I am delighted to continue playing for Brentford. From the first day I arrived here, I received a warm welcome and support from my teammates and the coaching staff, which helped me adapt quickly.”

“It is an indescribable blessing to be able to realize my childhood dream in the Premier League. I look forward to making continuous progress and continuing to contribute to the team in the coming season.”

Phil Giles, Brentford's director of football, said: "Since Michael Kayode joined the team in January, his performance has been very eye-catching. Not only that, his personality charm and positive attitude on the training ground have also injected new vitality into the team."

"It was a well-considered decision to make his move permanent this summer and we look forward to seeing him return to action in pre-season in July."

Michael Kayode made his Brentford debut as a substitute against Tottenham Hotspur, and went on to make five more appearances as a substitute. The Italy U21 international was called up to Thomas Frank's starting XI for the first time, appearing in the 4-2 win over Brighton, and was a regular at right-back for the final six games of the season.

He provided the vital touch in this game against Arsenal by assisting the equaliser with a brilliant pass to the back post where Nathan Collins headed the ball to the goalscorer.

Michael Kayode then provided his first assist in Brentford's 4-3 win over Manchester United, with a precise pass to Visa for another goal. The defender's long-ball ability was a key highlight of his game, and during his time at the club, his long balls often caused trouble for opposition defences.
