Alvaro Carreras, who played in the Real Madrid youth training, returned to Real Madrid earlier this month and signed a 6-year contract. In an interview, Carreras said that he is ready for the challenge and aims to help the team win more championships.
The 22-year-old defender Carreras previously played for Benfica and contributed three goals for Benfica in the 2024/25 Portuguese Super League season.
"I feel very happy, these few days are very special for me and my family, and it is an honor to represent this badge," Carreras said.
"I had to leave as a kid to fight, I left home to go to a faraway country and learn another language. But I'm very proud of my career and I'm going to do everything I can to help the team, which is why I'm here, and keep working towards my goals and winning more championships. I'm ready for the challenge, I think there's a lot to win here, and I'm here to help the team."
"It's a feeling that's hard to describe because I've always dreamed of coming back here," Carreras said of his return to Real Madrid. "Now I can say that this dream is becoming a reality. But this is just the beginning and I know there's still a long way to go."
"What coach Xabi Alonso asks of all his players is the same, to give their all for this jersey and to fight to win. I'm looking forward to many things, but most importantly, to continue winning titles."
