Chelsea officially announced on Sunday that Jorel Harto has joined from Ajax on a seven-year contract that runs until June 30, 2032.

According to several journalists, including Fabrizio Romano and Ben Jacobs, Jorel Harto's transfer fee is estimated at €43 million. He will compete with Marc Cucurella for the left-back position and can also play as a center-back if necessary.

The 19-year-old Harto was born in Rotterdam, Netherlands, and joined the Ajax youth system from Sparta Rotterdam in 2018. He has been promoted since then and made his first-team debut in the Dutch Cup on January 11, 2023.

To date, Harto has made 111 appearances for Ajax, scoring four goals and providing nine assists. He has also played six times for the Netherlands national team, without scoring or assisting.

After completing the transfer, Harto said: "I am very excited and very happy to be here at Chelsea. I have thought seriously about my future and wanted to take the next step in my career. Chelsea is the best choice to achieve this goal, so I am very happy."

He added: "Of course, it's a bit sad to leave everyone in the Netherlands, but it's a whole new journey for me - new teammates, new culture, new team and new league."

Harto also admitted that joining Chelsea was "a big decision": "I played for Ajax for seven years, and it was like home to me - whether it was my teammates, the coach or the entire cultural atmosphere. Therefore, it was not easy to make the decision to leave. However, I think now is the time to move to a higher platform, join a top club and participate in the highest level of competition. For me, this is the right decision made at the right time."
