In an interview with the media, Christian Norgaard admitted that he was very satisfied with his initial experience joining Arsenal.
The 31-year-old Danish midfielder joined Arsenal from Brentford on July 10 and made his debut in a pre-season friendly against AC Milan this week.
Now Arsenal are about to play a friendly match with Newcastle United. At the pre-match press conference, Nergaard said: "I have been training with the team since the first day, which has given me a clear advantage over latecomers in tactical understanding and team integration."
"Everything went very smoothly. The coaching staff, staff and players here made me feel at home."
As the former Brentford captain, Nergaard has a clear understanding of the competition. He admitted that Arsenal's midfield is full of talents, but this did not shake his efforts to fight for a place on the field.
Nergaard said: "I am very realistic. This is a gathering of one of the best midfielders in the world. But I believe I can bring value to the team, not only in terms of performance on the field, but also in terms of experience and leadership in the locker room."
At the same time, Nergaard also revealed that he had already completed the contract renewal with Brentford, but when Arsenal made an invitation and had preliminary communication with coach Arteta, he made the decision without hesitation.
"My first conversation with Mikel made me realize that I had to give my all for this opportunity. Joining such an ambitious team at this stage is a key step in my career," added Neergaard.
