Official: Ancelotti officially takes over the Brazilian national team, contract period until the end of the 2026 World Cup

The Brazilian Football Association (CBF) officially announced on Monday the appointment of Carlo Ancelotti as the national team coach. He will arrive in Brazil in June this year and his contract will last until the end of the 2026 World Cup.

If nothing unexpected happens, Ancelotti will lead Brazil to play against Ecuador in the South American World Cup qualifiers on June 5. Brazil currently ranks fourth in the South American World Cup qualifiers with 6 wins, 3 draws and 5 losses and 21 points, 10 points behind Argentina, which ranks first.

Regarding Ancelotti's arrival, Brazilian Football Association President Edinaldo Rodriguez explained: "Inviting Ancelotti to take charge of the Brazilian team is not only a strategic move, but also a declaration to the world: we are determined to return to the top of the world. As the greatest coach in football history, he will now lead the world's greatest national team. Together, we will write a new chapter of glory for Brazilian football."

Ancelotti, 65, has coached Real Madrid for six seasons at different stages, during which he led the team to a record of 250 wins, 48 draws and 52 losses, winning three Champions League titles, two Club World Cup titles, two La Liga titles, three European Super Cup titles, one FIFA Intercontinental Cup title, two Copa del Rey titles and two Spanish Super Cup titles. However, Real Madrid has made little progress in the four-front battles of La Liga, the Champions League, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup this season, which has become the fuse for Ancelotti's decision to switch to the national team.

According to multiple media reports, Ancelotti's annual salary in the Brazilian team is about 10 million euros, with an additional 5 million euros in World Cup winning bonuses. He also enjoys a full range of benefits including a mansion in Rio, a private car, a security team, and medical insurance.

As for Ancelotti's successor, various signs indicate that Xabi Alonso will be the head coach of Real Madrid. However, Real Madrid has not yet issued a relevant announcement.
