Italian Cup - Nkunku scores as AC Milan defeats Lecce 3-0


The second round of the 2025/26 Italian Cup ushered in another focus match. AC Milan, playing at the San Siro Stadium, relied on goals from Santiago Gimenez, Nkunku and Pulisic to defeat Lecce 3-0.


AC Milan took the initiative two minutes into the match. Salemaks' diagonal pass found Santiago Gimenez, who fired a shot from the penalty area, but it was blocked by Lecce goalkeeper Fruchter. A subsequent shot from Loftus-Cheek was also blocked. In the ninth minute, AC Milan continued their attack. Rabiot received a pass from a teammate and shot low into the box, but it was blocked by Fruchter.


In the 10th minute, Samuel Leach took a corner kick, Rabiot passed it back in the scramble, and Nkunku's volley hit the post. In the 17th minute, Nkunku was brought down by Lecce defender Siebert while dribbling the ball. After VAR intervention, the referee showed Siebert a red card, and Lecce had to hold on with 10 players.


In the 20th minute, Rabiot made a lob pass, Batsaggi received the ball and passed it to the front of the goal. Santiago Gimenez took advantage of the situation and shot it in, helping AC Milan take the lead 1-0. In the 29th minute, Salemax made a lob pass from the right to the penalty area, Rabiot stepped forward and shot but hit the post.


In the 42nd minute, Chieco got the ball and shot from near the top of the penalty area, but the ball went wide. In the 45th minute, AC Milan got a free kick, and Salemax chose to shoot directly, but it was blocked by Lecce goalkeeper Fruchter.


In the 47th minute of the second half, Loftus-Cheek dribbled into the penalty area and fired a series of shots past the defense, but the ball hit the post. In the 51st minute, AC Milan took a corner kick. Salemax lobbed a pass into the box, and Nkunku volleyed it directly into the net, giving AC Milan a 2-0 lead over Lecce.


In the 59th minute, Batsajki passed the ball back to Yussuf Fofana, who stopped the ball and shot, but it was blocked by Lecce goalkeeper Fruchter. In the 64th minute, Yussuf Fofana received the ball and made a cross from the right, and Pulisic shot in to help AC Milan extend their lead to 3-0.


In the 70th minute, Lecce secured a free kick. Berisha took a direct shot, but it was blocked by AC Milan goalkeeper Maignan. In the 75th minute, Pulisic's cross from the left hit the post, posing no threat. In the second half's injury time, Atkame dribbled forward and then made a cross, but it was cleared by the opposing player.


In the end, AC Milan eliminated Lecce 3-0 at home.
