Curtis Jones slammed teammates following Liverpool's humiliating defeat against PSV Eindhoven..

Liverpool's England international midfielder Curtis Jones, in a rare outburst, have slammed his teammates in a post-match interview following the club's humiliating 1-4 defeat to PSV Eindhoven in Wednesday's Champions League tie.

Speaking to CBS Sports, Jones expressed his anger, stating that he was furious that "no one was willing to fight like a man, to be aggressive and tenacious in attempting their tackles like dogs againnt the opposition's attacks."

He said, "We have to fight like a dog to turn things around. We can't be so cowardly anymore. It takes a collective effort from me and my teammates to make it happen."

"I don't have an answer (to the team's current poor run of form), I feel the same way as everyone else. To be honest, it's simply unacceptable. I don't even know what to say. I've moved past the anger and sadness phase, and now I really don't know what to say."

"It's really hard to find the right words to describe how I feel right now. I'm both a player and a fan, and that's how I see it."

"I haven't seen a team play this badly, with such poor results, in a very, very long time, but ultimately, we still wear the Liverpool badge on our chests."

"So, as long as that badge is still there, we must keep fighting."

"Keep fighting, strive to get the team back to its peak, and prove to the world that Liverpool is the best team in the world."

"But for now, yes, we're stuck in a cesspool and must change things quickly."

When asked why he thought the Liverpool team's performances had suddenly become so poor, Jones passionately stated: "Our players are technically good, but that doesn't mean we'll just keep playing passively."

"What we need to do is smash someone, and I think so too. I'm not saying the other players have to do that, because I think so too."

"My thoughts are exactly the same as theirs. My teammates look at me and say, 'Come on, smash someone!'"

Jones added: "My teammates and I have to take responsibility and not let the opponents have the thoughts of, 'We can definitely win' after coming here. We're going to score two or three, maybe even four goals."

"No, you come here, and you know, this used to be a place you couldn't wait come. You know, the fans, us, our style of play, our pressing — we were like a pack of dogs. Then we'd have possession, and then we'd start playing."

"And now we hardly play any football. Sometimes we do play, but it's the off-the-ball movement, I think that's what needs to change."

Coincidentally, Jones's view was echoed by several Liverpool legends. They all believed that the team's poor form shouldn't be solely blamed on head coach Arne Slot, the players should also bear a significant responsibility.

Jamie Carragher said, "I'd like to add something to what Curtis said. You don't wait until after a loss to say you should have tackled, or that you will tackle in the next game. What you should do is fight for every balls you tackle on the pitch that day. Nobody stops you from trying; the only things that can stop you are the direction you're running and your technique."

"Curtis may seem young, but he's not. I know his comments might generate different reactions and a lot of noise. To be honest, I'd rather hear Mohamed Salah speak than Curtis."

"I want to hear from those irreplaceable starters from the past, not just Salah. For me, these losing streaks now paints a good picture of Liverpool's future. When Ibou Konaté is completely lost, how can Van Dijk possibly have time to cover for him?!"

"You could even say that Virgil van Dijk now needs his teammates' help to defend against opponents. Liverpool has lost its identity, and that's frustrating. What the players need to do now is to rediscover their former selves as soon as possible; this can't continue, especially considering they've already spent nearly £400 million on transfers this summer, otherwise the consequences for the team will be even more dire."

Steven Gerrard said, "I think describing Liverpool's current situation as a crisis is a bit too harsh. Their recent performances have simply not been good enough, which is undeniable for this club and I think everyone can understand that."

"But I think describing it as a crisis is too harsh on the players who helped the club win the title just a few months ago, and on the manager who delivered on his promise by winning the Premier League just three months ago."

"If this situation continues in six months or a year, we're further away from success, then describing it as a crisis would be appropriate. But given the current situation, I wouldn't use that word to describe Liverpool."

"However, that being said, you can't deny that this team is struggling with huge problems. They've had a string of bad results, and their confidence is at all time low. The team is bleeding like a wounded lion. Not only that, conceding goals seems to have become the norm, and their numerous problems keeps getting bigger."

"Recently, Anfield's stands have frequently seen fans leaving early or having emptying seats, which reflects the sentiments of many supporters of this club."

"Unless the manager can find a solution to the players' mentality issues as soon as possible, the team's problems will only continue, and over time, this will exacerbate the pressure everyone is facing. Finding the root cause of the players' problems is the most urgent task right now, it's essential."

Liverpool have lost nine of their last 12 matches, marking their worst start to a season since 1953, and may also face the risk of failing to advance to the next stage of the Champions League.

The Premier League champions have conceded at least three goals in each of their last three matches, scoring only one, and their collective collapse after falling behind by one goal has made Slot's position increasingly precarious.
