Enrique believes Paris Saint-Germain failed to control the tempo after being held to a draw by Lorient.

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain, after taking the lead in a key match of the 10th round of the 2025/26 Ligue 1 season with a goal from Nuno Mendes, were quickly held to a 1-1 draw by Lorient. In an interview, Enrique stated that if the team hadn't controlled the tempo in the first half, the situation would have been much more difficult.

In the 49th minute of the second half, Due delivered a cross from the right wing, and Nuno Mendes' header was saved by the opposing goalkeeper. Nuno Mendes then followed up with a shot to score, giving Paris Saint-Germain a 1-0 lead.

Just two minutes later, Lorient's attack was cleared, and Igor Carioca got the ball and fired a long-range shot into the net, leveling the score at 1-1 for Lorient.

Ultimately, Paris Saint-Germain drew 1-1 with Lorient away from home. Failing to secure all three points, PSG currently sits atop the league table with 21 points, just one point ahead of second-placed Monaco.

Paris Saint-Germain coach Luis Enrique said, "I've seen too many games like this. If you can't get into the rhythm of the game in the first half, it gives the opponent extra motivation. When you think you still have time to turn things around, but you fail to do so, the game becomes difficult."

"But judging from the way each team defended against us, I think we were indeed respected. We didn't deserve to win. Congratulations to Lorient, they defended very well, that's football. To win a game like this, you have to stay focused for 90 minutes, that's very important. I said before that this game would be difficult to win, but nobody believed me."

In addition, Paris Saint-Germain striker Duai suffered an injury in the second half of the match and was substituted. Enrique commented, "Injuries are common for professional players. Between the October and November international breaks, we play seven matches a week, so this is quite normal."

"Player injuries are certainly bad news, but this injury is a bit unusual, and I don't know the exact severity yet. I hope it's not a serious injury."

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder João Neves said, "It was a very tough game. They defended very well. It's always difficult to play against teams with such deep defenses, but we're used to playing against this type of opponent."

"We only got one point, which is not a good result for us. We will review the game this week and analyze what we did well and what we didn't do well."
