Premier League club Aston Villa and V Sports have today announced the appointment of Francesco Calvo as the club’s new president of commercial operations.
Calvo will officially take office in July 2025, replacing Chris Heck, who will leave after the end of the 2024-25 season. Calvo, 47, has more than 15 years of experience in managing top European clubs.
Previously, Calvo served as Managing Director of Revenue and Institutional Relations at Juventus, where he was fully responsible for the planning and execution of the club's commercial revenue system, while leading cooperation and communication with important organizations such as FIFA, UEFA, ECA and Serie A.
Regarding this joining, Calvo said: "It is a great honor for me to join Aston Villa at such an exciting time. Aston Villa Villa has a long history and a passionate fan base. In recent years, the team has shown great ambition and continued progress both on and off the field. I look forward to working with the board, coach Emery and all my colleagues to drive the club forward."
Executive chairman Nassef Sawiris welcomed Calvo's appointment: "Francesco is an experienced leader who has achieved remarkable results at some of Europe's most influential clubs."
"Our goal is to make Aston Villa reach the world's top level both in terms of competition and operations, and his joining will be an important step in achieving this goal."
