Leicester City have announced the official signing of goalkeeper Francisco Vieters on a two-year contract, pending final approval from international and league authorities.  

After joining the team, Francesco Vietes said: "This is a key step in my career. I am very happy to join such a strong club and can't wait to start training, meet my new teammates and strive for the first victory of the season."

The coaching staff has done a great job, and the style of play they've created is exactly what I admire. It combines the subtlety of Spain with the power of England, which is exactly how I want to play."  

Francisco Vietes was born in Ponte Cesures and began his career at Berta Milans, making his senior debut at the age of 15.  

In June 2015, he joined Celta Vigo, entered the club's youth academy, and quickly became a regular member of Celta B team. Just one year later, he moved to Spanish Second Division team Lugo to continue his development.  

In July 2022, Francisco Vietes signed for Real Betis and initially played for Betis Deportivo La Coruna. In September 2023, he made his La Liga debut against Barcelona.  

Last season, Francisco Vietes played 20 games for Real Betis, 8 of which were in the UEFA Confederations Cup. He was with the team as they reached the final in Poland, but ultimately lost 1-4 to Chelsea and finished second.  

Francisco Vietes has joined the other goalkeepers to begin preparations for the next match. He said: "I am very excited to meet the club's goalkeeping staff. I am always focused on improving my own game and I believe I can learn from them, the young players and the goalkeeping coach every day."
