Leeds United officially announced that it has signed Swedish international Gabriel Gudmundsson from French Ligue 1 powerhouse Lille on a four-year contract until the summer of 2029.

The transfer fee was not disclosed and the deal is still subject to final confirmation of work permits and international transfer procedures. The 26-year-old Gudmundsson becomes Leeds United's fourth signing this summer.

The versatile left-winger performed well for Lille last season, making 45 appearances in all competitions, including nine Champions League games, helping the team reach the round of 16 of the Champions League and achieve a seventh-place finish in the French Ligue 1.

In the confrontations with giants such as Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid, Juventus and Liverpool, Gudmundsson has performed stably, especially in the match against Real Madrid, where he played the full 90 minutes, showing excellent defensive toughness and tactical adaptability.

Gudmundsson is not only capable of playing the traditional full-back role on the left, but can also play as a wingback or center back. He is a versatile backfielder with both skills and discipline. Gudmundsson came from Halmstad BK in Sweden. During his time with the club, he played 88 games and scored 16 goals, showing a strong ability to switch between offense and defense.

Gudmundsson then moved to the Eredivisie and after playing for Groningen for two years, he joined Lille in 2021, making nearly 150 appearances in four years.
